Dietrich Bonhoeffer  1906 –1945

Born 4th February 1906. Protestant pastor and theologian. Studied at the University of Tübingen. He was dismayed at the German national church’s support for Hitler and spoke out in opposition „With crystal-clear conviction and a complete absence of fear“. In 1943 he was imprisoned for his involvement in a plot to overthrow Hitler and was hanged on 9th April 1945 at Flossenberg, an extermination camp 
in the Bavarian forest, just three days before it was liberated by American forces.
